Hey everyone, I want to share here the article posted by CarterMatt where Alycia wins Underrated Actress prize:

Welcome to the CarterMatt Awards results! Throughout the final days of December we’re going to be sharing with you the end results of one of the greatest editions of these awards ever since we first started them six years ago. Hundreds of thousands of you voted, making this edition incredibly competitive and also a total blast to conduct. We hope that some of your favorites end up being among the winners this year!

One of the fun things about doing these awards year in and year out is that you never quite know which categories voters are going to respond to the most. This year, Underrated Actress was near the top of the list. Over 60,000 of you voted between a number of talented performers, whom many often fail to get some of the credit that they deserve for their work. One of our big criteria for this award is that none of the nominees can have been nominated for either an Emmy, a Golden Globe, or a SAG Award over the past year, even though many of them probably should have been.

Let’s face it – there are hundreds of shows out there these days, and with that thousands of performers competing for what are often just five or six nomination spots for a given category. It’s not a shock some people are left behind. We’re proud to have this category to give some of them recognition!

This is the third year of this category’s existence, and such past winners include Caterina Scorsone of Grey’s Anatomy and Candice Patton of The Flash.

Now, the baton passes to Alycia Debnam-Carey

After winning a different category last year for her portrayal of Lexa on The 100, this is the second straight year in which Debnam-Carey emerges as a victor in the CarterMatt Awards! This time around, it’s for her fantastic portrayal of Alicia in Fear the Walking Dead. This is a character who defied expectations over the course of the entire series’ run. It may have seemed as though you could form one impression based on who she was at the start of the series; however, over time some she gained confidence, developed leadership skills, and proved that she can be every bit the badass that her mother Madison is. She also still has a personal, vulnerable side that has not been lost over the course of the journey.

The vote for Alycia started off fairly competitive, with at one point Scorsone giving her a tough run for her money. Over time Mary McDonnell of Major Crimes also posed a challenge, but in the end Debnam-Carey ran away with this category with around 57% of the final vote. It’s a commanding and deserving victory — hopefully, this does mean some more great stuff is coming Alycia’s way on Fear the Walking Dead season 4.

CONGRATULATIONS Alycia! 🙂
